Glen Mowrey // Director

Glen M. Mowrey spent thirty-six years in law enforcement starting his career with the Miami-Dade (FL) Police Department and retiring as Deputy Chief with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg (NC) Police Department. His experience covers many aspects of law enforcement including patrol, investigations, vice, planning and research, crime prevention, and special and support services. His supervisory, command, and administrative positions include sergeant, captain, major, commander and deputy chief.

Mowrey is an active member of the International Association of Chiefs of Police and serves on its Private Sector Liaison Committee, Annual Retraining Conference Committee and Chairs the Conference Host Agency Committee. He currently serves as National Law Enforcement Liaison with the Security Industry Alarm Coalition (SIAC), and is a member of the Alarm Industry Research and Educational Foundation (AIREF) and Chairs its Research Committee. He is a Council Member of ASIS’s Law Enforcement Liaison Council. Mowrey is a past Instructor in the University of Louisville’s Southern Police Institute’s Command Officers Develop Course; as well as an instructor in the North Carolina State University’s Law Enforcement Executive Program.

Mowrey has been involved in advisory and leadership roles with many professional and community organizations including the North Carolina Department of Crime Control & Public Safety Advisory Committee, Appointees Selection Committee for the U.S. Military Academy and U.S. Air Force Academy, Community Coalition on Drug Abuse, Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Foundation, and the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Domestic Violence Advocacy Council. He is the recipient of numerous professional, community and civic honors, including two FBI Director’s Community Leadership Awards, Dade County Police Officer of the Year Award, the Florida Jaycees’ Outstanding Young Police Officer of the Year Award, National BSA Court of Honor’s Silver Beaver Award, National Law Enforcement Official of the Year Award by the National Burglar and Fire Alarm Association.

Mowrey resides in Charlotte, North Carolina; he and his wife have a grown son and daughter and four grandchildren.
